Vintage Lending Library 1912 Project
I will be participating in the Vintage Lending Library 1912 Project. This project will commemorate the 100th anniversary of the sinking of the Titanic in April, 1912. I will be receiving digitalized, scanned Edwardian era patterns from La Mode Illustree, a French fashion magazine from 1912. I will sew the various garments, take photographs of my progress, and blog about the experience. The fashions from this era were featured beautifully in the movie Titanic, and are particularly elegant and feminine. I am looking forward to this experience; it will be a sewing challenge, since construction of ladies clothing during this time period was very different from modern construction. And though I have been sewing clothing and costumes of great variety for over 20 years, this will be a new and exciting venture into the world of Edwardian fashion.
